Jorge Posada to be Honored on the 100th Anniversary of Father’s Day

Proceeds to Benefit Save the Children’s U.S. Programs

NEW YORK, NY – April 29, 2010 – The National Father’s Day Committee today announced that it will honor five exceptional men at the 69th Annual Father of the Year Awards luncheon on Thursday, June 17th, at the New York Sheraton Hotel & Tower. Proceeds of the luncheon will benefit Save the Children, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to making lasting positive change in the lives of children in need in the United States and around the world. The 2010 Father of the Year Awards will be presented by host Jane Hansen, award-winning NBC Anchor and News Correspondent, to the following honorees:

· Francis “Ken” Duane, Vice Chairman, Wholesale Apparel, Phillips-Van Heusen
· Michael D. Fascitelli, CEO & President, Vornado Realty Trust
· David Gregory, Moderator, NBC TV News, “Meet the Press”
· General David H. Petraeus, Commander, U.S. Central Command, U.S. Army
· Jorge Posada, Catcher, World Champion New York Yankees

“As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Father’s Day, we are delighted to pay tribute to this remarkable group of honorees, who have been exemplary role models throughout their accomplished careers,” said Glen Schanen, Chairman of the National Father’s Day Committee. “Their dedication, leadership and contributions make them an inspiration to their children and a great example for other fathers striving to achieve an ideal work/life balance.”

As part of its commitment to support meaningful philanthropies dealing with issues affecting mothers, fathers and children, the National Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council, Inc. has donated nearly $21 million to date to meaningful charities nationwide, which includes more than $2.3 million in 2009.
